2017 Dream Makers a Huge Success!

Thank you for joining us for our 2017 Dream Makers Celebration! Our event was a huge success, and we owe it all to you – our Dream Makers! With landmark attendance of 400+ guests and record breaking funds of $175,000 raised, the evening was highlighted by our keynote speaker, James Redford, who spoke on the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Toxic Stress impacting our youth. Because of you – and the many caring volunteers who make up CYC – our students are able to overcome obstacles and succeed in education, career, and life.

If you haven’t had a chance to make a Fund a Dream donation, now is a great time to make a difference in the life of a child! Thank you for all that you do to lift up and support our students!

A special thank you to Valedictorian Sponsor, Macys; Salutatorian Sponsors, Accenture, Empower MediaMarketing, and PNC Bank; Dean’s List Sponsors: AK Steel, Deloitte, The Farmer Family Foundation, Fifth Third Bank, Jack and Kay Geiger, Luxottica, Messer, John and Francie Pepper, Photonics, trustaff, and the University of Cincinnati.

This year’s Celebration was held at Cincinnati Music Hall on:

We welcome the following special guests:

Honorary Chair: Mary Ronanretired CPS superintendent, and children’s advocate.

Keynote Speaker: James Redford. For James Redford, storytelling, film, and social change have become the fabric of his life. As a writer, director, and producer for both film and television, he tells stories infused with compassion, optimism and hope, rendering complicated issues into accessible, relatable narratives that inspire positive change. Redford’s film, Resilience, examines how traumatic stress can wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children – and what can be done about it.

Master of Ceremonies: Kathrine Nero. Kathrine Nero has anchored Good Morning Tri-State on WCPO – 9 On Your Side for 15 years, swearing all the while that a 1:45 a.m. wake-up-call is the universe paying her back for refusing to take college classes unless they started “in double digits.” In addition to anchoring, Kathrine has spent the last several years reporting on struggles in our community involving heroin, poverty and education. That’s why CYC’s mission and our Dream Makers Celebration is important to her.
