Beginning in junior high and continuing through college, advisors guide students to plan and prepare for post-secondary opportunities. College Advisors work on-site in the schools to provide: 

  • Academic planning
  • College entrance exam preparation
  • Financial aid advising and assisting
  • College campus tours
  • Scholarship searches and preparation
  • College advising and coaching
  • Co-op and internship search assistance
  • Career advising

Gear Up

GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) 

GEAR UP, a U.S. Department of Education program, partners CYC with the University of Cincinnati and Norwood City Schools to significantly increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. 

AmeriCorps Ohio College Guide Program

An AmeriCorps program, funded in partnership with ServeOhio, Ohio’s commission on service and volunteerism. AmeriCorps members (recent college graduates) work within partner schools to provide comprehensive college guidance. 11th and 12th graders explore educational opportunities, navigate the college application and financial aid process, search and apply for scholarships, and refine their career goals.
