Celebrating Transformational Relationships
In recognition of National Mentoring month, CYC was thrilled to host our annual Mentor Appreciation Celebration on January 16, 2020, at the Sharonville Hotel & Event Center. The evening was a huge success, and we owe it to all the amazing individuals who were in attendance. There were highlights throughout the evening, with our biggest being recognizing the marvelous achievements of our mentors.
For the first time, it was a student-led event hosted by 2019 Outstanding Student, Elissa Mowery. She did a phenomenal job sharing her story and leading us through an evening of smiles, hugs, and standing ovations! Other mentees like Arielle Kimble and 2019 Outstanding Student, Akira Fletcher, took to the podium to share a heartfelt message about how mentoring has impacted their lives. We also recognized an extraordinary group of mentors nominated for the 2020 Outstanding Individual Mentor Award; Sarah Appeadu, Martha Dave, Marcia Kemper, Pamela Thomas, and Rodger Horton. For this year’s celebration, CYC Champion, Sarah Appeadu, received the 2020 Outstanding Mentor Award. Girls Club leader, Ms. TJ Smith, was honored with the 2020 CYC Ambassador Award. P&G was awarded the 2020 CYC Outstanding Group Mentor Award for its mentorship program at Western Hills High School. Last but not least, we announced Bob and Tina Donelan as the first recipients of the 2020 Outstanding College Mentor Award. Thank you to the Sharonville Hotel and Event Center, Seasons 52, the Music Resource Center, Chaya J, Gifted, and everyone else who contributed to this spectacular event.
