Congratulations to the six CYC students who received the 2012 YMCA Character Award

Six CYC Students were awarded 2012 YMCA Character Award honorees. The six students are Chartrae’ Durham – Withrow University, Talent Search and ProjectREACH; Ja’lon Farr – Aiken College and Career , Talent Search,  ProjectREACH and  2011 CYC Outstanding Dream Maker ; Shamari Hinkston – Withrow University, ProjectREACH; Darryl Long – Hughes Center, Talent Search,  Mentoring and 2011 CYC Outstanding Dream Maker; Alexandria Smith – Withrow University, Talent Search; Alison Woulms – Dater High School, Talent Search.


Honorees are chosen because they are role models to others for leading a life by the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, responsibility and respect.  They set an example by showing what it means to be a leader and an achiever, an advocate and a giver. And they are making this world a better place through their contributions.


The 15th Annual YMCA Character Awards Event was held on April 17, 2012 at the School for Creative and Performing Arts.
