Dahnae Parrott

Dahnae Parrott, a senior at West Side Montessori, is a bright young girl with considerable talent, personality and ambition. Not only is Dahnae seen as a leader and moral compass at her school, but she has overcome many difficulties in her life. She does not let life's struggles define or hinder her. She carries herself with class, focus and compassion in all that she does and is a role model for students throughout the city.

Dahnae became involved in CYC's college access program last year and has since shown incredible drive toward making her college dreams a reality.

"Although I just met my first college advisor last year, I learned a lot," she says.

Dahnae has already shown a commitment to success by actively seeking more challenging academic opportunities - all while being active in several community groups and having a part-time job.

"Each day, I have watched her rise above challenges, giving both school and life her best," said her college access advisor, Siobhan Taylor.

Dahnae is an incredible young girl with the ability to take on all of life's challenges.

"The first step is always the hardest. The more you strive, the more you will succeed," she shares.
