Outstanding Student 2010: Kyle Crockett-Smith

Kyle Crockett-Smith is a graduate of Walnut Hills High School and member of CYC's mentoring program. A determined young man, his mentor coordinator, Courtney Haynes, describes Kyle as "honorable, full of pride and committed to bettering himself and his community."

Kyle and his mentor, Aric Hassel, have been together for seven years focusing their time together on education and community service. Aric helped Kyle get into Walnut Hills High School and also encouraged him to become a weekly volunteer at the Salvation Army.

Kyle believes the one-on-one time he got with Aric helped him to stay focussed on school.

"My mentor is very concerned about my education," Kyle shares. "He always pushes me to do the best I can. He helped me fill out my college applications and he keeps me on the right track."

Kyle attends Northern Kentucky University and is majoring in Computer Science.
