![]() CYC Volunteers Inspire Young People to Grow April 20, Cincinnati: The Cincinnati Youth Collaborative (CYC) celebrates National Volunteer Appreciation Week by honoring their volunteers with personal tokens of appreciation.
Volunteers with the CYC were treated to an appreciation luncheon held during National Mentoring Month in January. The organization realized that not all volunteers were able to attend the event and wanted to do more to recognize and celebrate all of the abundant gifts that volunteers share with young people in Cincinnati. National Volunteer Appreciation Week is the perfect time to showcase the organizations volunteers. This year’s celebration theme, “CYC Volunteers Inspire Young People to Grow”, allows volunteers to select from three different recognition choices. CYC volunteers can choose to plant a beautiful packet of flower seeds, hang a personalized frame able appreciation certificate in their home or office or have a community service letter mailed to their employer or supervisor. Kimberly Heestand, Volunteer Manager, said “CYC is proud to have such a diverse group of volunteers helping young people grow. Our success depends on volunteers. The time they give to young people is invaluable beyond measure! We want volunteer recognition to be personalized to fit the individual desires of all the wonderful volunteers in our organization. Recognition choices seem like a perfect fit to celebrate them! ” A leader in youth development programs since 1987, the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative creates, facilitates and supports positive educational, social and economic programs to benefit the region’s youth – with primary focus on Cincinnati Public School–age and young-adult populations. Focusing on two primary areas– Mentoring and College Access, CYC brings together people, institutions, and other community resources to help youth graduate from high school, enter post-secondary education, and/or obtain employment.
